Things continue to be worse for the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The BCB has now announced that they have decided to increase the salaries of the players as well as the match fees. Interestingly, the board hasn’t paid Shakib Al Hasan his salary for the last 4 months of 2024.
The ace all-rounder was still under contract and is yet to receive his dues. Shakib hasn’t received his payments from the month of September to December. Cricbuzz reports that the BCB has been unable to pay as the cricketer’s account has been frozen.
BCB promises to pay Shakib’s dues
“It’s true that he (Shakib) is yet to receive salary for September, October, November and December and that is largely due to the fact his bank account got frozen,” an official told Cricbuzz.
Reports claim that Shakib is expected to receive a sum of 48 lakhs BDT excluding taxes. Back in February of 2024, in the board meeting, it was decided that the ace all-rounder would be receiving a central contract for all three formats of the game.

Shakib had wanted to play his last Test match at home against the Proteas but was unable to do so. He had previously announced his retirement from Tests and T20Is while touring India. In the meantime, after the fall of the government, Shakib was accused in a murder case but the BCB allowed him to play till he was proven guilty.
Back in November, Shakib found his accounts to be frozen. “He (Shakib) will get his salary as per the agreement because whether you play or not there is an agreement in place and certainly we will try to fulfill our commitment as per the agreement,” said BCB cricket operation chairman Nazmul Abedin to Cricbuzz.
