‘Fatigue never an excuse’: Rohit Sharma sends warning signals ahead of India T20 WC Super 8 campaign

Rohit Sharma said the team is keen to go out in the field and do something special and make a difference.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be looking to end the ICC trophy drought of more than a decade when India take the stage in the Super Eight of the T20 World Cup. Ahead of their opening fixture against Afghanistan, Rohit talked about the feeling around the Indian team, how hectic it is going to be to play three matches in a span of five days and what they are expecting from the ground at Kensington Oval Barbados.

Motivated squad

There’s real keenness in the group to go and do something special. That’s a good way to start the second stage of the tournament. It shows that everybody wants to make a difference and we take our skill sessions quite seriously. There’s something to achieve in every skill session that you do,” Rohit said in a video released by BCCI on their website.

Fatigue not an issue

Once we play the first game, we play the next two games in the span of three or four days. It’s going to be a little hectic but we are used to all of this. We travel a lot, we play a lot. So that is never going to be an excuse. We will look to focus on our skills and what we do as a team rather than all this. Every session becomes really important and to make the most use of it,” Rohit said.

Knowing ground conditions an advantage

We have seen a lot of games here, we have played a lot of games here. So everyone understands what one needs to do to get the result in our favour. Everyone’s looking forward and quite excited at the same time,” Rohit added.

India open their Super Eight campaign against Afghanistan on June 20th. They will then take on Bangladesh on June 22nd before their last game against Australia on June 24th.
