Fastest IPL Fifty: The Chinnaswamy crowd was totally stunned as LSG batter Nicholas Pooran smashed the second-fastest fifty in IPL history against Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 10 (Monday). Chasing 212 runs to win, Lucknow was in big trouble as they lost half of their side just after crossing the 100-run mark. However, Pooran had other plans as he smashed his first maximum on the second delivery he faced. He did not stop after that as none of the RCB bowlers were spared. Meanwhile, it was a nail-biter between both sides as the visitors just managed to cross the winning line in the end. Lucknow required just 5 runs to win in the last over with Jaydev Unadkat and Mark Wood in the middle for them. For RCB, Harshal Patel was given the responsibility to bowl the final over.
Patel managed to scalp the wicket of Wood early in the over which put pressure on the batting side. However, Ravi Bishnoi kept his calm and collected three runs from his two deliveries he faced. However, Unadkat gave his wicket on the second last ball of the match. The Supergiants required one run off the last ball with Avesh Khan coming as the last wicket standing. Eventually, he missed to connect bat with the ball. However, the duo in the middle ran a bye to complete an absolute anti-climatic victory. To note, this was Lucknow’s highest run-chase in IPL history.
