Ishan Kishan put on a fine performance on his return to ODIs on Saturday. Coming in for Rohit Sharma, the left-hander blasted his maiden ODI double-century in Chattogram. Kishan got to his double ton in just 126 balls, the fastest ever in ODI cricket.
The 24-year-old smashed 24 boundaries and hit 10 sixes in a full onslaught on the Bangladesh attack. Kishan’s innings is a timely reminder of his talents with the World Cup coming up next year. He is also the youngest to score a double century, doing so at the age of 24. Rohit Sharma was 26 years and 186 days old at the time of his first double against Australia.
Kishan’s effort is the highest by a player against Bangladesh, with the previous highest being 194 by Coventry. Out of his 210, the 24-year-old scored 156 runs in boundaries – the third most in ODIs. Such pyrotechnics put him in command for a place in the side, especially with Dhawan out of touch.
