Bangladesh women’s cricketer Fariha Trisna on Tuesday etched her name into history books by becoming only the third player in Women’s T20I cricket to take two hattricks. Trisna, playing against Australia, picked up her 2nd T20I hattrick of her career. She took the wickets of Ellyse Perry, Sophie Molineux and Beth Mooney to bring up her hattrick.
Playing in the 2nd T20I of the of the three-match series in Mirpur, Australia won the toss and elected to bat. Grace Harris and Georgia Wareham added 91 runs after they lost Phoebe Litchfield early on, setting the team up for a huge score.
Final over drama
Ellyse Perry hit Fariha Trisna for four in the final over, but Trisna recovered brilliantly to take three wickets in a row and end the over. She achieved a fifth hat-trick in women’s cricket this year when she dismissed Perry, Sophie Molineux, and Beth Mooney in the final three deliveries of the innings.
Bangladesh fight to stay alive
Australia was limited to 161/8 in their 20 overs, while Fariha finished with the amazing figures of 4/19 in her four overs and a maiden to her name. Bangladesh must win the second Twenty20 International to tie the series, having already fallen behind 0-1 so far.
