Farewell? KL Rahul not going back to RCB, LSG captain to be released before IPL 2025 auction

Insidesport has learnt that KL Rahul is on his way to bid adieu Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) after three years of service.

The IPL is abuzz with rumuors, and one of the biggest involves KL Rahul and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). What once seemed like a promising partnership is now on the brink of collapse. Rahul, the marquee player who led LSG to consecutive playoff appearances, is reportedly set to part ways with the franchise. The RPSG Group acquired KL as their maiden draft pick for Rs 17 crore in 2022.

LSG to release KL Rahul

Tensions between KL Rahul and team owner Sanjiv Goenka boiled over after a humiliating loss against SRH, and the relationship appears to have irreparably fractured. The LSG owner opulently had an alleged altercation with the LSG skipper and since then, all kinds of news have been making rounds. While many speculated a potential reunion with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru – Rahul’s former team – it seems a different path is being taken. So, for the fans who were waiting for Rahul and Virat Kohli to join forces once again, it should come as a bad news. It is unless RCB beat other franchises to bag his services.

Insidesport has learnt that LSG is set to release KL Rahul, making him a hot commodity in the IPL 2025 mega auction. This unexpected move opens the door for any franchise to acquire a household name, who has mustered 4,683 runs, that involves four centuries. The last time the 32-year-old went into the auctions, he was picked up for a whopping Rs 11 crore by the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2018. And now, if KL Rahul’s name come up in the auction, one could imagine that this number could easily be doubled.

The IPL auction is shaping up to be a blockbuster, and with names of various big players set to part ways with their franchises. Where will KL Rahul end up? Will he return to familiar surroundings, or will he embark on a new chapter with a different franchise? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: the IPL is about to get even more exciting.
