Fans Fume! As BCCI to get 300 hospitality, 500 general tickets of WC for free

In the event that the ICC (consisting of 250 hospitality tickets and 1800 general stand tickets) and the BCCI (comprising 300 tickets each for both hospitality and general stands) wish to purchase extra hospitality tickets, the state association is obligated to supply them.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to make tickets available for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 through online sales starting from August 10. This will be done after the individual staging associations determine and confirm the pricing of the tickets. However, cricket fans are voicing their frustration and disappointment as the BCCI recently revealed plans to reserve a substantial number of complimentary tickets for the upcoming World Cup 2023. The allocation includes 300 hospitality tickets and 500 general admission tickets, leaving many concerned that fewer seats will be available for the public when tickets go on sale online by August 10.

As per the stipulations, both the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be entitled to receive 300 complimentary hospitality tickets for every game of the upcoming tournament. Additionally, the host state will be required to allocate 1295 tickets for league games and 1355 tickets for India’s matches and the semi-finals to the ICC.

Moreover, the state association must provide the Indian board with 500 general tickets at no cost. In the event that the ICC (consisting of 250 hospitality tickets and 1800 general stand tickets) and the BCCI (comprising 300 tickets each for both hospitality and general stands) wish to purchase extra hospitality tickets, the state association is obligated to supply them.

Apart from these designated quotas, each state association has the option to purchase up to 40 tickets per game, while the ICC’s tour partner can buy 10% of the remaining tickets. This arrangement seeks to ensure fair ticket distribution and cater to the needs of various stakeholders involved in the prestigious cricketing event.

BCCI ditches E-tickets for 2023 ODI World Cup

Fans have received more disheartening news as the BCCI has made the decision to do away with the concept of E-tickets for the 2023 ODI World Cup. Consequently, attendees will now need to possess traditional physical tickets to gain entry to all the thrilling matches hosted across the country.

To accommodate this significant alteration, the BCCI is taking measures to set up seven to eight ticket centers in strategic locations around the stadiums, where fans can conveniently purchase their physical tickets before enjoying the cricketing extravaganza. The quadrennial showpiece is set to kick off on 5th October 2023 with a match between last year’s finalists, England and New Zealand.
