“Family where you trust…” – Aakash Chopra questions leak in Rohit Sharma & Gambhir’s dressing room

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has recently questioned the reported leak of the Indian team's dressing room conversation after the MCG defeat, saying it’s a breach of trust.

After a big 184-run defeat, many things came out from the Indian camp, and one that garnered attention and is still a topic of conversation is Gautam Gambhir’s reported frustration with a few players in the dressing room. India, who lost the Boxing Day Test at the MCG against Australia, is now in a position where they cannot win the series. The maximum they can do is level the series if they win the SCG Test, which is surely not going to be easy.

Although many reports are coming to light before the Test match, there are chances that Rohit Sharma may not play the upcoming SCG Test. But more than that, the dressing room conversation is getting a stage and has caught everyone’s eye. Many are offering opinions about this, with former Indian player and cricket expert Aakash Chopra recently questioning how head coach Gautam Gambhir’s reported talk got leaked.

Aakash Chopra mentioned how important it is for Team India to work like a family, with everyone trusting each other. If such things get leaked, it will disrupt the balance.

Aakash Chopra raises concerns over Team India’s leaked conversation

Talking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra discussed how such incidents are an example of a breach of trust, “People are saying that Gautam said the shots being played won’t work out and that it’s enough. My first big question is how the talk that apparently happened in the dressing room came out.” He added, “Yes, you can openly say anything in the dressing room and have complete faith that the talk won’t go out. It’s a small family where you trust each other.

The day the dressing room talk starts coming out, the trust deficit is of a different level, also, the dressing room becomes extremely insecure. If the dressing room talk starts coming out, it means it has become the home of insecure players. Thirdly, generally, the one who leaks is one of the seniors. The juniors are incapable of doing that. The juniors are anyway scared and don’t say anything to anyone because they are too consumed in their own thoughts. My big red flag is that it’s a concern if the dressing room talk is coming out, in case it’s true.”

SCG Test: Do or Die for Gautam Gambhir’s Men

As mentioned, for the Indian team, this upcoming SCG Test is going to be crucial, as Team India is down and out. They will need to step up if they want any chances of making it to the WTC final. Currently, their fate is not in their hands, as it will be Sri Lanka who will need to help. Australia is going to Sri Lanka for two Test matches, and if Sri Lanka manages to give Australia a series defeat, and India wins the SCG Test, we may see a miracle. Otherwise, the South Africa vs. Australia WTC final looks like a real possibility for now.
