Family first! Virat Kohli to extend absence in IND vs ENG Tests

Virat Kohli missed the first two Tests after pulling out due to personal reasons.

The dreaded update every Indian cricket fan wanted to avoid is here. Virat Kohli is all set to extend his absence in IND vs ENG Test series. The talisman is currently attending to a family emergency. He pulled out of the India vs England 1st & 2nd Tests. The India squad for re is expected to be announced on Tuesday.

As per an ESPN Cricinfo report, not only the 3rd and 4th Test but Virat Kohli can likely miss the Dharamsala Test. However, since the match starts on March 6, the selectors will get more clarity on that later.

When will Virat Kohli return?

Kohli is spending time with wife Anushka Sharma who is expecting her second child. And as family comes first for Virat Kohli, the superstar will miss at least the next two Tests. A call on his return in the IND vs ENG 5th Test in Dharamsala will be taken later.

While official confirmation regarding Virat Kohli return to India Squad is awaited, reports suggest he is currently abroad.

Latest on IND vs ENG Tests

The only update BCCI had provided was three days before the 1st Test.

“Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been his top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.

The BCCI respects his decision and the Board and team management has extended its support to the star batter and is confident in the abilities of the remaining squad members to step up and deliver commendable performances in the Test series,” BCCI said in a statement.
