Fake IPL tickets: IPL 2023 Live: Central District Police on Wednesday busted a racket that was printing fake tickets for IPL matches. The Delhi police have apprehended five people, including three minors. The accused, who all hail from Mumbai, visited cities that host IPL matches to sell fake tickets at prices twice or thrice the original rates. The police nabbed the accused by posing as fans outside Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium during Tuesday’s match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

DCP (Central) Sanjay Kumar Sain said that a special team was constituted that first apprehended three people and seized 24 tickets from them. They were selling the tickets at three times the original rate. Later, another person was caught, and fake tickets were seized. A total of five people were then apprehended.

“During the exercise, one person was held selling tickets. No record was found on checking the details of tickets online. Later, when the ticket was minutely examined, it was found to be a forged one”, DCP Sain revealed.

The accused was identified as Rohit Chauhan. On interrogation, Chauhan led the police to his accomplices – Vikas and three others.

During the operation, the police recovered 80 fake IPL tickets of the Delhi-Mumbai match, five mobile phones with software and applications, a color printer, and other printing materials. Some items were recovered from a house near Ashram where the five men were staying.
