“We quickly introduced measures to remove the comments that directed abuse at an Indian cricketer and we’ll continue to take action against those that violate our Community Standards. We have recently announced updates to our bullying and harassment policy that increases protections for all public figures,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying by IANS.
Facebook does allow attacks on people of any race, religion, nationality and sexual orientation, including the use of emojis expressing hateful expressions. Bullying and harassment are strictly prohibited by the organisation.
Mohd Shami brutally trolled: The trollers on social media linked Shami’s below-par performance to his religion. He was hit for 43 runs in 3.5 overs and had an off day on the field like other India bowlers. However, a number of cricketers have come in support of the pacer after a derogatory and hateful speech on social media.
Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar stated that Shami is a committed, world-class bowler and he had an off day on Sunday. “When we support #TeamIndia , we support every person who represents Team India. @MdShami11 is a committed, world-class bowler. He had an off day like any other sportsperson can have. I stand behind Shami & Team India,” Tendulkar tweeted.
Earlier, former India pacer Irfan Pathan, Yuzvendra Chahal and all-rounder Yusuf Pathan also condemned the online abuse against Shami.

- He is the fastest to 100 wickets for in the ODIs.
