Experts hope Virat Kohli replicates 2016 form in IPL 2024, flag concerns for star at Chepauk

Former IPL stars Matthew Hayden and Harbhajan Singh discuss the probability of Virat Kohli's success in Chennai in IPL 2024

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh wants Virat Kohli to get back to his form from 2016 in IPL 2024. The ex-CSK star opines that the team will go forward if the star batter starts amassing runs. IPL 2024 is all set to kick-off on March 22 with CSK taking on RCB in Chennai.

Harbhajan wants 2016 Virat Kohli back for RCB’s sake

Harbhajan wants Kohli to replicate his form from IPL 2016. The former Indian skipper left a trailblazing record in that edition, amassing 973 runs including four centuries and seven fifties.

“Well, it’s important for him to have a season like 2016, because if Virat Kohli goes on to score runs for them, it means the team will go forward. But I don’t know if they go on to win the cup or not, but with the brilliant individuals they have in their team—Virat Kohli, Maxwell, Green, and a few more like Patidar—so I believe they have a lot of good batting, and everyone wants Virat Kohli to make that comeback from 2016 and score heavily at the top. If that happens, they will have a great chance to go forward,” Singh says speaking on ‘Game Plan’.

Hayden flags Virat Kohli’s record in Chennai

“Virat enjoys a great record against the Chennai Super Kings but since 2021 in the power play MS Dhoni has done something different. In three out of the five innings, he’s gotten out within the power plays. Well one thing for certain, it is a blockbuster showdown,” Hayden says.
