Former South African cricketer Daryll Cullinan minced no words when it came to Rohit Sharma‘s poor form and fitness. In an exclusive interview with Insidesport at the sidelines of Big Cricket League (BCL), the Northern Challengers coach claimed that the Hitman was a flat-track bully who could only dominate Test matches at home (in India). His remarks come in the backdrop of the Indian captain drawing criticism over his miserable form in the longest format of the game in the latter half of 2024.

Speaking exclusively to Insidesport, Daryll Cullinan claimed that he never felt Rohit Sharma was convincing while playing in overseas, especially at South Africa. Calling the Hitman a flat-track bully, the ex-South African cricketer said that the Indian skipper was marvellous and his record at home spoke for itself. However, he pointed out that Rohit had an issue with bounce and almost went missing when he was faced with that challenge.

Further, Cullinan drew compared Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, and claimed that the latter was ‘overweight’. He said that the Indian skipper wasn’t a long-term cricketer any more, and added that he wasn’t in good physical condition.
Commenting on Rohit Sharma’s entry into the playing XI for IND vs AUS 2nd Test in Adelaide after missing the 1st Test, Cullinan pointed out that the Indian skipper hardly batted at the nets before the game and opined that his addition hardly did anything for the team. He went on to claim that he wouldn’t have even played the Hitman in the 2nd Test.
The former South African cricketer criticised the change of captaincy after IND vs AUS 1st Test and asked what was the need to do so especially after Jasprit Bumrah led the side from the front to a mammoth 295-run win in Perth.
