EXCLUSIVE: If not PBKS then who? Shashank Singh picks MS Dhoni’s CSK as his 2nd favorite IPL team

Shashank Singh, the breakout star of IPL 2024, has his heart set on a different yellow jersey. In an exclusive interview with Insidesport, Shashank, who became a fan favorite with his explosive batting for Punjab Kings (PBKS), revealed his dream team – the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

From auction surprise to run-machine

Shashank’s story in IPL 2024 was nothing short of remarkable. His name at the auction table raised eyebrows, with some believing it was a case of mistaken identity by PBKS. But Shashank silenced the doubters with his bat, topping the run charts for his team with a staggering 354 runs at a mind-blowing strike rate of 164.5.

MS Dhoni reason behind Shashank’s love for CSK

I was a die-hard CSK fan when the IPL first started,” Shashank confessed in the interview. “CSK was my first love in the IPL, all because of Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni). I was heartbroken when CSK lost against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the finals of IPL 2008.” This childhood connection with CSK continues to hold a special place in Singh’s heart, irrespective of him being a contracted player with the Punjab Kings.

CSK or PBKS?

While Shashank has established himself as a valuable asset for PBKS, his loyalty lies with the yellow of CSK. “I have a soft corner for CSK, so I would definitely prefer joining them if not PBKS next season,” he admitted.

Shashank’s dream might just become a reality. With the mega auction coming up next year, all eyes will be on whether CSK will decide to take a chance on the talented finisher. One thing’s for sure, after his phenomenal IPL 2024 season, Shashank Singh is a name that all teams will be looking to add to their roster.
