On May 11, the Mumbai Indians will play their penultimate league match of the IPL 2024 season against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Because they have lost eight of their first twelve games, the Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, have already been eliminated from the playoff race. Hardik has been facing flak from experts and fans alike for his captaincy decisions. However, MI fast bowler Gerald Coetzee has backed Pandya, terming him ‘exceptional’.
Coetzee bats for Pandya
In the midst of the current leadership dispute between the two renowned Mumbai Indians icons, South African pacer and IPL 2024 recruit Gerald Coetzee has praised Hardik Pandya for his “unique” captaincy style and for consistently inspiring the team.
“I think, he’s been a really good captain. Every captain has a unique style and no captain is the same. He’s (Hardik) been really good. He’s been really motivational to the guys, he’s been really clear with the plans. I think he’s an exceptional captain,” Coetzee said.

Many fans of the team were deeply offended by the cricketer’s appointment and vigorously demanded that Sharma be restored to the top position.
