Ex-India player Ajay Jadeja offered PCB chief’s role, turns it down hilariously

Ajay Jadeja is part of a panel of experts, along with Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, who are offering their insights on Champions Trophy.

After Pakistan bowed out of the Champions Trophy early, as usual there are a lot of changes expected in the team, with a few sackings too. There have already been reports hinting at the end of Aaqib Javed’s tenure as the coach of the team. All this, after Mohammad Rizwan‘s team lost to India and New Zealand.

Foreign Head for PCB?

But during a conversation at the DP World Dressing Room, something unprecedented and hilarious happened, when a fan asked, if any foreign face would take up the role of the PCB chairman. To this ex-India cricketer Ajay Jadeja had a response that cracked everyone up.

“It’s the sort of position which invites a lot of attention. Press Conferences everyday, I doubt the board would be open to getting a foreign name onboard for the chairman’s role,” Wasim Akram said first. Soon after that, Waqar Younis pointed a finger towards Ajay Jadeja.

The Indian then said, “Wasim bhai ke bacche hain, mere bhi hain (Wasim Akram has kids, I do to…).” He further explained, “The job has two aspects to it, the administrative aspect and the sporting aspect. They can be separated. Fans and the public aren’t interested in how much profit the board made, the stadiums developed. Fans and future players want to see how their cricket will develop.”

On the other hand, Team India has qualified for the semis of the Champions Trophy and have one group game left — against New Zealand, on March 2. In fact, their opponents for the match, the Kiwis have also entered the next round.
