Former India opener Aakash Chopra has praised Ravindra Jadeja’s remarkable performance in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test in Rajkot.
India set England a daunting target of 557 runs on the fourth day, February 18. Jadeja showcased his bowling prowess by taking 5/41 in 12.4 overs, contributing significantly to India’s comprehensive 434-run victory and their 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
According to Chopra, Jadeja’s bowling pace is perfectly suited for the slower Indian pitches. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chopra commended Jadeja’s exceptional display.
He highlighted Jadeja’s effectiveness on Indian pitches, particularly in the second innings when the pitch slows down, making it challenging for other bowlers.
“Let me tell you the speciality of Ravindra Jadeja. When there is a match in India, the pitches are really slow, therefore Jadeja’s delivery is suited for these pitches,” said Chopra
“He might not be as effective in the first innings but as soon as the pitch slows down in the second innings, all bowlers struggle, but his optimum pace is absolutely perfect for these pitches,” he added.
Jadeja made crucial breakthroughs by dismissing Ollie Pope, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Foakes, and Mark Wood, securing a five-wicket haul after the openers fell early, leaving England struggling at 50/5.
Additionally, Chopra acknowledged Jadeja’s batting contribution in India’s first innings. Despite India’s early struggles at 33/3, Jadeja, along with Rohit Sharma, formed a vital partnership of 204 runs for the fourth wicket, guiding the hosts to a formidable total of 445 runs.
