Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni had an heated exchange during the Syed Mushtaq Ali quarterfinal clash between Delhi and UP

Former Delhi cricketer Nitish Rana and Ayush Badoni had an heated exchange during the Syed Mushtaq Ali quarterfinal clash between Delhi and UP on Wednesday. The duo were involved in a verbal spat in between the game, forcing the umpire to intervene and separate them. Delhi beat Uttar Pradesh by 19 runs to qualify for the semi-finals of SMAT and will take on Madhya Pradesh next.

Ayush Badoni, Nitish Rana involved in heated exchange in SMAT

The incident occurred while Delhi were batting first in the clash at M Chinnaswamy stadium. Initially, Rana pulled out of his run-up in the 13th over to which Badoni retaliated by withdrawing at the last minute as the former ran in to bowl the next delivery. In the following delivery, Rana came in Badoni’s way after the batter hit the delivery down the leg side for a single. This forced the Delhi batter to slow down in order to avoid crashing into Nitish Rana. The two then had a heated exchange, forcing the umpire to intervene and separate the two.

Nitish Rana was previously associated with Delhi before moving to Uttar Pradesh. In the match, Anuj Rawat top-scored for Delhi with a 73-run knock. Delhi got off to a flying start, thanks to a stellar partnership between openers Priyansh Arya (44) and Yash Dhull (42). Rawat’s knock powered Delhi to a mammoth 193-run total at the end of 20 overs. In reply, UP were bowled out for 174 runs.
