Everything else is fake: Rohit Sharma denies talks with Ajit Agarkar to open with Virat Kohli in T20 World Cup

Nothing decided yet, everything else is fake - claims India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma on Rohit-Kohli opening in T20 World Cup

Who will open for India in ICC T20 World Cup? This is the most pertinent question off late. Some have speculated India’s opening pair to be Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. However, India Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has claimed that a decision has not been taken on the same. Furthermore, he said until he, Rahul Dravid or Ajit Agarkar says anything on the matter, rest all news is fake.

Rohit Sharma has claimed that they haven’t met yet. As a result, no such decision has been taken to finalise India’s opening pair for the ICC T20 World Cup.

“We haven’t met so far, we haven’t decided who’ll open at the World Cup (on him and Kohli opening). In today’s age, until and unless you don’t hear from me, Rahul bhai or Ajit bhai, everything else is fake,” Rohit Sharma said in a podcast with Club Prairie Fire.

Why Rohit & Kohli as opening pair?

There are speculations that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should open for the Men in Blue. The other opening pairs include the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. But Yashasvi haven’t been performing well in IPL 2024 which is a major concern for Team India. Shubman on the other hand has performed well with the bat for Gujarat Titans.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli has rocked IPL 2024. The ace batter has gone on to score 361 runs in just 7 games and occupies the top spot of the Orange Points Table. Rohit Sharma is currently 6th on the Most Runs Scored list with 261 runs from 6 games. Thus it all makes sense that the ace duo open for India.
