Star Indian batter Rinku Singh expressed happiness after his Asian Games 2023 selection. The left-hander also shared how his friends and family celebrated after they heard about his maiden India call-up. Rinku, who had a breakout IPL 2023 season, made 474 runs in 14 matches with an average of 59 and a strike rate of 149. The Southpaw was in the top 10 run-getters in the tournament and was the top scorer for his side, KKR. Rinku, who’s currently playing for Central Zone in the Deodhar Trophy 2023, was talking with BCCI.TV.
The left-hander said, “When I saw my name on the list, I was very emotional. I was working hard for this moment, and I finally got it, so I was very happy.”
“I saw my name in the squad (Asian Games 2023) through my friends and news,” said Rinku about how he found out about his selection.
“My family was very happy, as they always say, that we wish to see you represent your country one day.”
“Everyone danced when they got to know”, said the Southpaw about how his friends and family reacted to his selection.
On his aim for the Asian Games 2023, Rinku Singh said, “If I get a chance, I’ll do well, and our team will win and bring home the gold medal”.
During his talk, Rinku also mentioned that his five sixes in the last over against Yash Dayal were a life-changing moment. He also attributed his success to his IPL franchise, KKR, and assistant batting coach Abhishek Nayar.
