Ahead of the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup encounter, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has spoken out about the uncertainty surrounding the Nassau County pitch in New York. Ever since hosting the warmup game between India and Bangladesh, the newly built ‘makeshift’ stadium has kept everyone guessing. Largely, it has been a bowlers paradise, offering insane amount of seam and swing movement.
“You can imagine our situation,” says Rohit before IND vs PAK clash
While speaking during the pre-match press conference, Rohit revealed that let alone the players, even the curators are clueless on how the New York pitch could turn out. Highlighting the confusing conditions, Rohit said, “We don’t know what kind of wicket we play on. It doesn’t matter that we have been in New York for more days than Pakistan. Even the curator was confused regarding the pitches, so you can imagine our situation.”
Despite the challenges, Rohit emphasized the team’s experience in handling difficult conditions. “It’s tough, but that’s why I would like to highlight the experience we have,” he said. “The blows count for nothing. When you play in places like South Africa, Australia, we have to overcome the challenges. The Gabba test is one big example.”
With the T20 World Cup stage set, the Indian skipper concluded by underlining the team’s spirit. “We thrive in these difficult moments,” he declared. “It’s the WC, so nothing can get bigger than this.” His comments suggest that while the pitch may be a cause for concern, the Indian team is determined to overcome the unknown and deliver a strong performance in this high-voltage encounter.
