KL Rahul has been terrific for India in the IND vs ENG 1st Test. His crucial knock of 86 runs helped India pile up a lead of 175 runs after end of Day 2. KL emphasised that he is now comfortable batting at the middle order. The star batter narrowly missed out on his century after playing a risky shot.
Coming to bat at number 4, KL Rahul took the task on himself to lead India’s charge. He slammed 8 fours and 2 sixes to reach 86 runs from just 123 runs. Hitting the ball all across the park, KL claimed that his century against South Africa helped him a great deal.
“The 100 in SA has given me some confidence, also having played 6-7 months of cricket since my injury. The aim was to stay positive when I went out to bat. Very different to that of South Africa (on the pitch) – a bit of turn, it became slower and slower as the ball went old,” KL Rahul said after stumps on Day 2.
KL Rahul went on to claim how the pitch has turned slower. He claimed that he had to wait to play hi shots. Furthermore, KL Rahul claims that he now enjoys batting in the middle order.
“Was a challenge, I had to wait for my opportunity to play shots. Enjoying batting in the middle-order. I did enjoy batting in the top-order for a long time, but here you get some time to put your feet up, watch as to how the ball is doing, what the bowlers are doing and it gives time to plan your innings. It’s only the second day, we just wanted to bat the full day and get as many runs as possible (on the team plan). The chat was to bat as long as possible and everyone to bat and score as many runs as we could,” Rahul concluded.
