Sri Lanka managed to erase the 122 deficit and ended Day 3 of the ENG vs SL 1st Test with a lead of 82 runs. Things looked extremely tough when the visitors lost two batters, Nishan Madushka and Kusal Mendis, in the first 10 balls. Dimuth Karunaratne and Angelo Mathews stitched a 51-run stand that gave Sri Lanka hope, only for Mark Wood to send Karunaratne back and injure Dinesh Chandimal. Mathews was joined by Kamindu Mendis, who’s unbeaten on 56, and with six wickets down, Chandimal, having escaped a broken bone, joined to see off the last couple of overs of the day.
