“No, I can’t pretend I am as good as gold because I am not. It would be wrong to act like everything is OK. I could take being dropped if I had let my standards slip, but facing up to being overlooked when they haven’t is another thing altogether. I am struggling to put things into context. It’s hard to do so when all you’ve had is a five-minute phone call and nothing else,” Stuart Broad was quoted saying by Daily Mail.

Andrew Strauss, the current interim manager axed both Stuart Broad and James Anderson for the upcoming Test series against West Indies to pave way for new faces in the squad. While Stuart Broad is miffed, he is in no hurry to decide his future and will wait patiently till the ECB appoints a new coach and a manager.

The move comes after England’s 4-0 loss at the Ashes against Australia. Though former cricketers have revealed that England’s disaster was mainly due to the batting failure of the English team.

I am in the top three bowlers in the country and whether I play – or indeed Jimmy plays – when we resume international cricket in June will be a call for new eyes to decide. As soon as the new regime is announced it will be important for me to get into a room with them and ask what they see the future looking like,” said Stuart Broad.

Broad revealed that the reason for his omission from the squad as stated by the selection panel was England’s wish to improve their away form. England will play a three-match Test series against West Indies after their loss in the 5-match T20I series in the Caribbeans.

Do I believe I warrant a place in England’s best team in Antigua? Of course, I do. That is why it is so difficult to comprehend. If I was averaging 100 with the ball recently and had a terrible record in the Caribbean then, OK, try someone else. But I’ve bowled well there in the past and West Indies are a team I’ve had good success against,” Stuart Broad added.

Broad exclusion from the squad comes in the light of England’s horrible performance in the Ashes against Australia. Almost a complete team change sees 8 players replaced from the Ashes squad, that would face the West Indies in the Caribbeans.
