England Playing XI vs Pakistan: PAK vs ENG LIVE: T20 WC Final LIVE: England captain Jos Buttler has gone with an unchanged playing XI against Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 final. Despite turning up for the practice on Saturday, England pacer Mark Wood and batter Dawid Malan are on the bench after missing out on the semifinal vs India. Wood has muscle stiffness while Malan is struggling with a groin injury. Chris Jordan and Phil Salt will play their second match of T20 WC 2022 today. Wood had generalized body stiffness and missed out on playing against India in the semifinal at Adelaide Oval. The pacer although turned up for the practice, he did not go full tilt. Instead, Chris Jordan had an extended session. Malan is yet to recover from a groin injury. England will play their third T20 World Cup 2022 Final. This time, the Jos Buttler-led side will be seeking revenge for the 1992 final loss at MCG.

England Playing XI vs Pakistan: What changes can be expected?

  • Wood is yet to fully recover and will have a fitness test on Sunday morning.
  • Chris Jordan remains on standby. He bagged three wickets against India in the semifinals and relies heavily slower deliveries.
  • T20 World Cup 2022’s fastest bowler Wood has taken nine wickets from four games.
  • Wood has rushed batters with pace and has used the Australian conditions to his advantage.
  • Babar and Rizwan have struggled against pacers before their 100-run stand against semis.
  • Malan is a doubtful starter as England management are not ready to take the risk yet.
  • A final call on Malan’s participation will be taken on Saturday.
  • Phillip Salt will keep his place if Malan does not recover from groin pain.
  • Salt was not asked to bat as Hales and Buttler put on an absolute show with the bat in hand.
  • Salt though has a good amount of experience playing on Australian pitches as he plays for Strikers in BBL.
  • Other than that, England will go unchanged with Sam Curran set to play an important role.

“Malan and Wood are definitely struggling. We’ll keep an open mind. But there’s a short turnaround between games with a travel day and then straight into it with one training session. There isn’t a lot of time for them. It is disappointing. They have been two great players for us, particularly over the last month. They are big losses,” England coach Matthew Mott said on Friday.
