The England Disability Cricket Team, along with officials, expressed their gratitude to Jay Shah, Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), for his support in championing the cause of Differently Abled cricket. They appreciated his assistance in organizing the upcoming five-match T20 series between India and England scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from January 28 to February 6.
The Narendra Modi Stadium, renowned for hosting the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final between India and Australia, will be the venue for the last match of the series. The closing ceremony is also set to take place at the stadium on February 6. The Differently Abled Cricket Council of India shared a video on Thursday featuring expressions of gratitude from England team players and officials towards Jay Shah.
The series, organized by the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI) with the support of BCCI, will see the first two matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium complex’s ‘B’ ground. The third and fourth matches are scheduled at the Gujarat College and Railway Ground, respectively. The DCCI announced the national squad, with all-rounder Keni named as the captain and Wasim Iqbal as his deputy.
The 16-member squad includes two wicketkeepers, Yogendra B (Madhya Pradesh) and Lokesh Marghade (Vidarbha). A week-long training camp at the Rajasthan Royals’ High Performance Centre in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from January 14 to January 20, was supervised by former Rajasthan Ranji team captain Rohit Jhalani, who has been appointed as the head coach of the Indian team.
