Wanindu Hasaranga starred for Sri Lanka yet again as he spun webs around the English batsmen in yet another game-changing performance for the Islanders. After his hat-trick against South Africa went in vain, and the Sri Lanka leg spinner chipped in with yet another three-wicket haul, despite the onslaught from Jos Buttler. Bowling in the powerplay, Hasaranga delivered a body blow to England when he dismissed in-form opener Jason Roy, skittling his stumps with a peach of a delivery.
He then followed it up another stunner to get the better of Jonny Bairstow, who departed for a first-ball duck. Hasaranga wasn’t done yet, and he returned to send back captain Eoin Morgan to the pavilion later in the innings His third wicket was his 50th in T20Is, making him the fourth bowler to reach the milestone. Lasith Malinga is at the top of the tree with 107 wickets, while Ajantha Mendis is the only other spinner to have reached the milestone for the Islanders.
