How is the allotment of tickets? –

  • The tickets are distributed on daily basis and there are vacant tickets for all five days, which have accounted for a total of 20,000.
  • As of Monday evening, Lord’s was still advertising 1800 tickets as available on day one.
  • 2500 tickets were available on Day 2, while 4600 on Day 3 and 9600 on Day 4.
  • Usually a Lord’s test to open the English summer is the hottest ticket in town and gets a full house.

What are the usually ticket prices? –

  • For the opening day, the most readily-available under-16 ticket is around £136, although the MCC says elsewhere that prices for children are between £20 and £40.
  • Basic test match seats at Lord’s, which has a capacity of 31,180, range from £70 to £160, while restricted-view tickets are priced between £45 and £100, according to the Lord’s home page. Prices for children start at £20.

Queens’s Silver Jubilee couldn’t attract ticket sale –

  • There has been no apparent surge in interest since the MCC announced last month that floral decorations and bunting around Lords.
  • Lord’s will be swathed in the colours of the flag during the June 2-6 test, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Test.
  • The marketing policy was expected to attract huge crowd but plans haven’t gone that way.
  • Usually the planned policy has attracted huge crowd in past, but this time it has backfired big time with ECB struggling to attract crowd.

Reason’s for low ticket sale –

  • England’s poor form in the Test format is one of the main reasons for the low ticket sale.
  • The English team which will be under new management of Brendon McCullum, but have lost endured poor Test form.
  • Recession is also one of the big reasons why fans have turned their back on the Test match.
  • The slow and poor entertainment level is also one of the reason why fans have decided not to invest in the Test match.
