What makes Root’s achievement even more special is that he is the first batter in Test history to complete 10,000 runs in less than 10 years. Besides that, among the current ‘Fab 4‘ of Root, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith and Babar Azam, the Englishman become the first player to attain five-figure runs tally in the longest format of the game.
