England’s first and foremost tasks will be to stop Australia from getting a big lead and to not slip the game away from them. The task will not be a daunting one as they are only three wickets away from bowling Australia out but they have a tough nemesis in Travis Head who is well settled and has experience of batting with the tailenders.

The visitors will then have to bat throughout if they want to save themselves from humiliation. The pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins have not given anything to the English batters. The newly appointed captain, Pat Cummins, took a fifer in his very first innings as a full-time skipper and is expected to get better only.

England are already regretting leaving out James Anderson and Stuart Broad and their spinner Jack Leach’s spell has only added to their misery and failed to create any sort of trouble for the Australians. Leach conceded 95 runs in 11 overs at an economy rate of 8.6, which is no less than a sin in Test cricket. He too will have to work hard to not make it worse for his team.
