ENG vs AUS Day 2 Highlights: Australia have closed the day at 116/4 after Stuart Broad, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes destroyed the Aussie top order. But with Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head on the crease, Australia have extended the lead to 142. Earlier, England skipper Ben Stokes put on a show as his quickfire 80 helped the hosts to reduce the deficit to 26 runs after getting bowled out for 237.

England was 142/7 at lunch, trailing by 121 runs with only three wickets remaining.

However, in the post-lunch session, Stokes and Mark Wood came with attacking intent and hit eight sixes combined. Australia also dropped two catches during this period.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins finished with figures of 6 for 91.

Earlier, the Day 2 of third Ashes Test started in a horrible manner for the hosts as they lost Joe Root and Johnny Bairstow with just 87 on board.

England skipper Ben Stokes and all-rounder Moeen Ali stitched a crucial 43-run partnership but Aussie skipper Pat Cummins got the much-needed breakthrough with Ali’s wicket.

Chris Woakes was the next batter to depart just before lunch with side still trailing by 121 runs.

Mark Wood played a stunning cameo post lunch, scoring 24 runs in 8 balls to put England back in contention.

In the first day of the Test, Australia was bowled out for 263, with Mitchell Marsh’s century being the highlight. England’s fast bowler Mark Wood took 5-34.

Australia will be somewhat disappointed with their batting performance. Despite a shaky start in the first session, they recovered well after lunch. Mitchell Marsh played a superb innings, scoring a century with support from Travis Head as they put on a partnership of over 150 runs. However, Marsh was dismissed just before tea.

Australia then suffered a disastrous collapse in the third session, unable to handle the pace of Mark Wood. They ended their innings with a total of 263 runs. Australia needed early breakthroughs to exert pressure on the hosts, and their captain Pat Cummins led the way with two quick wickets. Marsh also contributed with a wicket, leaving them with a lead of 195 runs.
