Pakistan cricket team pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah have performed miserably so far in PAK vs AUS T20I series. After being dropped midway through the PAK vs ENG series at home, the duo returned to the white-ball setup for the tour against Australia. However, their T20I campaign didn’t go as planned, as Pakistan conceded yet another series loss to Australia in the shortest format.
No more T20Is for Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah?
Shaheen Afridi has had the most successful year in his career in 2024, having bagged 32 wickets in 20 matches. On the other hand, Naseem Shah has managed to take only 10 wickets this year so far. Together, the duo conceded 83 runs for zero wickets in the 2nd T20I against Australia. Both Afridi and Naseem tasted little success in T20Is and rather aced their role in ODIs. In T20Is, Naseem Shah has taken 25 wickets so far while Afridi has 96 wickets to his name.

Poor performances in the recent past from Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah do not warrant for their inclusion in Pakistan’s XI in T20Is. Instead, the side has other younger bowlers as options to replace the veteran duo. Australia have sealed the series 2-0, with one more game left to go.
After winning the historic ODI series in Australia, Pakistan couldn’t replicate the same in the T20Is as Australia continued the winning streak in the second match of AUS vs PAK T20I series after securing a 2-0 lead. The Sydney Cricket Ground witnessed some thrilling cricket on Saturday, with Australia defeating Pakistan by 13 runs in the second T20I. This win ensured the series win for Australia, and the wait for Pakistan continues as they have yet to secure a win a match against the mighty Aussies in T20Is on Australian soil.
