End of road for Yuzvendra Chahal? Leggie ignored once again, fails to find spot in IND vs SL series

End of road for Yuzvendra Chahal? Leggie ignored once again, fails to find spot in IND vs SL series

In the last 18 months, Chahal has only played 9 T20Is and taken the same number of wickets.

India’s leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, has once again been overlooked by the BCCI. After the 33-year-old was left out of the recent Zimbabwe tour of India, the highest wicket-taker for the Indian cricket team in T20Is has also not been selected for the IND vs SL series. Not just in ODI but he is also snubbed in the T20Is.

This omission may signal the end of Chahal’s international career, as he might not be considered in the BCCI’s plans.

No spot in the playing XI at the World Cup

After a remarkable performance in IPL 2024, Chahal was selected for the recent T20 World Cup, marking his comeback in the blue jersey. Unfortunately, he did not get a chance to play a single match in the tournament.

Later, the players who did not get a chance in the World Cup were given opportunities in the IND vs ZIM T20I series, including reserves like Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan and Rinku Singh, who all played the 5-match series in Harare. However, Yuzvendra Chahal was ignored in the selection, and Ravi Bishnoi was chosen for the tour instead.

Kuldeep and Bishnoi over Chahal

The BCCI has not included Yuzvendra Chahal in recent ODI and T20I plans; instead, they opted for Kuldeep Yadav. India is also focusing on nurturing young talents like Ravi Bishnoi for major events.
