After reports of Usman Khan joining the Pakistan Cricket Team with the T20 World Cup 2024 in mind, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has handed a five-year ban to the batter. Usman, who impressed in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024, had received a call-up to attend the Pakistan Cricket Board’s fitness camp.
Usman had participated in the PSL as a foreign player and stayed in Pakistan after the tournament came to an end instead of returning to Dubai. As per reports, being an integral member of the Multan Sultans franchise played a crucial role in his involvement with the PCB.
Is PSL success the reason for leaving the UAE for Pakistan?
There is backdoor news that Usman received an indication from a Multan Sultan player that he is in contention to get into the Pakistan squad for the series against New Zealand and the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies in June. Since then, Usman has ditched his ties with UAE cricket and is looking to offer his services to the Pakistan cricket team.
According to sources, Usman wrote to the ECB, requesting the termination of his central contract after legal consultation with the PCB.
