ECB contracts 2024-25: Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson & Shoaib Bashir awarded for Test success

ECB has awarded central contracts to 29 players, 7 of whom are first-timers.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the central contracts for the 2024–25 season. The English home summer is over, and those who performed well have been awarded rightly. At the top of this are Jamie Smith, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Will Jacks, and Phil Salt.

The first three have done exceedingly well both home and away, having made their Test debut in 2024. While the latter two have made white-ball formats their own, and with the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 coming, they have earned central contracts.

Three 23 or under players, Jacob Bethell, Josh Hull, and John Turner, have also been awarded development contracts. All three made their debuts in the last three months and have impressed the England management immensely. Bethell’s even expected to make his Test debut in New Zealand later this month.

“The strength and depth of talent across England Men’s red and white-ball cricket is clear in the quality of players who are centrally contracted. These contracts reward the players we believe will play an important role for our England Men’s teams. Both our captains, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler, have signed two-year central contracts that showcase the commitment of all the players to prioritise playing for their country. I want to congratulate all the players who have signed new central contracts ahead of what is set to be an exciting period for England Men’s cricket,” said Managing Director of England Men’s Cricket, Rob Key.
