CPL 2023: After being traded from St Kitts & Nevis Patriots to his home franchise, the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR), former West Indies captain Dwayne Bravo has expressed his excitement about reuniting with former West Indies head coach Phil Simmons and Kieron Pollard. The trade ahead of the Caribbean Premier League 2023 will see Bravo join an all-star TKR side that has WI and T20 stars like Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Nicholas Pooran. Although the quartet was present last season for TKR, their presence couldn’t prevent them from being the worst-performing team and finishing last. It was also the first time that TKR had failed to enter the last stage of the event. Follow CPL 2023 LIVE Updates on Insidesport.IN

Bravo can be seen playing for TKR in August but is currently busy with his stint as a bowling coach for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023. His teammate and friend, Pollard, is also occupied in the IPL as the batting coach for the Mumbai Indians.

CPL 2023: Pollard on playing with Bravo again

“Very exciting times,” said Pollard on reuniting with his old friend in a media statement.

“The champion DJ Bravo is coming back to his home franchise TKR. Our relationship and our friendship is second to none and this is a very good opportunity for us both to represent TKR together once again, in the upcoming season. We are very happy to have him back in red and black.” Pollard on his relationship with Dwayne and excitement for the upcoming season.

Earlier this year, Bravo played with his former WI teammates Pollard and Pooran at MI Emirates in the inaugural ILT20.

Bravo currently holds the record for being the highest wicket-taker in CPL history, with 124 wickets in 97 matches. Bravo not only holds the record in the CPL but is also the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket history, with 615 scalps from 558 matches.

Bravo’s return to his home team, TKR, was announced a day after it was announced that Phil Simmons would replace former Indian player Abhishek Nayar as the new coach.

Bravo played a pivotal role in leading the Patriots to the title in 2021. A year later, in 2022, however, much like TKR, Patriot also failed to qualify for the playoffs, which could be one of the reasons behind Bravo’s trade.
