Although Faf was finally caught by Sam Curran at long-off in the 18th over bowled by Nathan Ellis, his remarkable knock helped RCB put up a respectable total of 174 runs for the loss of just two wickets.
After Faf’s dismissal, the whole RCB dug out including Virat Kohli welcomed the Proteas batter with a standing ovation.
Faf’s contribution was particularly noteworthy as he suffered a rib injury during RCB’s match against the Chennai Super Kings on April 16. Despite the setback, the Proteas batter has scored 337 runs in just six innings at a strike rate of 166.50 in IPL 2023. He is the current orange cap holder and has already smashed four half-centuries against Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, CSK, and PBKS.
