DRS Sept 2: MS Dhoni gets hateful comments, Pakistani pacer matches Shoaib Akhtar & Rohit Sharma in LSG?

Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

Nothing much happened as far as Indian cricket goes on the first day of September. However, Pakistan and Bangladesh continued their vigil, where we saw a sensational comeback from the visitors, courtesy of a splendid hundred by Litton Kumar Das. At Lord’s, England also confirmed their Test series win against Sri Lanka after Gus Atkinson took a fifer. Apart from this, MS Dhoni’s name was in the news as well after Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh inserted hatred comments on the former Indian skipper.

Yograj Singh vs MS Dhoni

Yograj Singh, Yuvraj Singh’s father, has continued his criticism of MS Dhoni, accusing him of ending Yuvraj’s career. In a recent interview, Yograj expressed his anger and stated he would never forgive Dhoni for his actions. He also claimed Dhoni’s behavior led to Yuvraj’s early retirement and that Yuvraj could have played for several more years.

Khurram Shahzad matches Shoaib Akhtar

Pakistan’s Khurram Shahzad produced a stunning performance in the second Test against Bangladesh, claiming 6-90 in the first innings. This marked the best home figures by a Pakistani pacer in over two decades, closing in on Shoaib Akhtar’s record. The Rawalpindi express took two 6-fers once in 2002 and other time in 2003. Although Pakistan missed Shahin Afridi and Naseem Shah, Khurram bowled his heart out.

Rohit Sharma in LSG?

Lucknow Super Giants fielding coach Jonty Rhodes has addressed speculation about Indian captain Rohit Sharma joining the team for IPL 2025. While Rhodes admires Rohit’s batting, he emphasizes that any potential addition must fit the team’s dynamics. The former Protea has previously worked with Rohit at MI, but if speculations are to be believed then Rohit may be on his way out of MI.

BRONZE FOR INDIA!

India’s Preethi Pal clinched another bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics, this time in the women’s 200m T35 event. With a time of 30.01, she not only secured a podium finish but also set a new personal best. This achievement made her as the first Indian woman track and field athlete to win two medals at either the Paralympics or Olympics.

100 for Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane continued his impressive form in the County Championship, scoring a century for Leicestershire against Glamorgan on September 1. The veteran Indian batsman’s 102-run innings dug Leicestershire out from a tough spot while they were three wickets down and still trailing by 162. While Rahane has been racking up runs consistently, his non-selection in Duleep Trophy means India might have done away with the former India captain.

No takers for Harmanpreet Kaur!

Indian women’s team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was surprisingly left unsold in the recent Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Draft. Despite being one of the most feared T20 batters in the past, her form has declined in recent time. While other Indian players like Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and Jemimah Rodrigues found homes in the WBBL, Harmanpreet’s exclusion from the draft raised eyebrows just before ethe T20 World Cup 2024.
