The Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20 startled with some amazing cricket. Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya from South Delhi Superstarz had a wrecking ball, helping the franchise amass the first 300+ score in franchise T20 cricket. Both centurions had a blast as the side hammer 50 boundaries in total against North Delhi Strikers. Apart from this, we even saw the commencement of the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh, where Babar Azam continued his horror show with the bat.

Record Alert in DPLT20!

The afternoon match between South Delhi and North Delhi will be etched in memories of everyone. Fans at the Arun Jaitley Stadium witnessed a complete carnage, led by Ayush Badoni (165 off 55) and Priyansh Arya (120 off 50). Their stand of 286 runs in just 99 balls, is the biggest in T20 cricket. This led South Delhi hammer 308 runs, which is also the highest after Nepal’s 314. Ayush Badoni’s unprecedented knock of 165 is the highest by any Indian in T20 cricket.

Zaheer Khan to lift IPL 2025?

Jonty Rhodes, the fielding coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), believes the addition of Zaheer Khan as the team’s mentor will be a valuable asset in their pursuit of the IPL 2025 trophy. The South African feels that Zaheer’s calm presence and experience will create a positive atmosphere within the dressing room. This comes after LSG announced Zaheer as the replacement for Gautam Gambhir, following their 7th-place finish in IPL 2024. With Zaheer’s experience in IPL, LSG aims to build on their previous playoff appearances and challenge for the title.

6 sixes in an over!

During his 120 off 50, Priyansh Arya channeled his inner Yuvraj Singh and hammered six sixes in an over. The poor bowler was Manan Bhardwaj, who had no idea where to bowl to Arya. The southpaw hit everything out of the park, and did so while striking it all cleanly.

Babar Azam continues poor patch

Babar Azam’s recent form has been a cause for concern for Pakistan cricke. After failing to cross the 50-run mark in the first Test against Bangladesh, his struggles continued in the second match. His inability to convert starts into substantial scores has contributed to Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the series. The former Pakistani Test skipper has not scored a fifty in this WTC cycle and he was once again dismissed for 31.

The ‘Joe Root’s era

Joe Root’s 34th Test century at Lord’s against Sri Lanka in 2024 surpassed Alastair Cook’s record for most Test centuries by an English. His second-innings knock of 103, following a first-innings century, marked his first double century at Lord’s since Michael Vaughan in 2004. This achievement not only underlines Root’s status as one of the greatest batter of his generation but gives a reality check that Sachin Tendulkar’s record might be in massive trouble.
