In yet another eventful day in cricket, the second round of the Ranji Trophy came to an end, where Mumbai finally managed to post a win, against Maharashtra. There were a few more notable performances throughout the day, where in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup, Rasikh Salam came up with a stupendous spell of 3/15, but the highlight was, the announcement of IND A squad for AUS A series, where there were a few notable inclusions, and a few surprising omissions. Ishan Kishan in IND A squad, Ruturaj to lead

Late on Monday, the BCCI announced the IND A squad from the upcoming AUS A series, for which, Ruturaj Gaikwad was named the skipper. Abhimanyu Easwaran was chosen as his deputy, while speedster Mayank Yadav was ignored for the series. Surprisingly enough, Ishan Kishan, who fell out of favour last year, was picked in the squad for his recent tons in Ranji Trophy and the Duleep Trophy.

RCB “Forced” to pick local talent

As per a report in the Times of India, IPL franchise RCB is facing “considerable pressure” from the state government to pick up local talent. One might see more Karnataka players being bagged by the franchise in the upcoming IPL auctions. But whether than actually happens or not, remains to be seen, since no team goes into the auction, targeting only the local players.

Mumbai script first win of Ranji Trophy

After a shock loss against Baroda in their first game of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, Mumbai made a stunning comeback against Maharashtra. In the match, Shreyas Iyer and Shams Mulani emerged as the heroes, with the former scoring a big hundred in the first innings. Mulani returned with six wickets in the match, making him one of the most sought-after all-rounders in the domestic circuit. Tanush Kotian was overall impressive as well.

Rasikh Salam gives jitters to UAE, Abhishek Sharma impresses

J&K’s fast bowler Rasikh Salam is fast rising through the ranks in T20 cricket. The youngster produced a fiery spell against UAE in the ACC Emerging T20 Cup, where he returned with figures of 3/15 in two overs. After bundling out the opposition for only 107, Abhishek Sharma made a mockery of the target as he scored 58 from 24 deliveries.

Mohammed Shami Comeback Soon

In an interview with RevSportz, India pace bowler Mohammed Shami made it clear, that he is bowling pain-free, and would soon be in action in the Ranji Trophy, before the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. “I am pain free now. I want to make sure I bowl enough before going to Australia. And for that I’m targeting 1-2 Ranji games,” Shami said. In fact, he was seen bowling full tilt in Bengaluru after the 1st IND vs NZ Test.

Rishabh Pant no competition for Sanju Samson

India keeper-batter Sanju Samson clarified in an interview with Vimal Kumar, that he doesn’t compete with Rishabh Pant and Ishan Kishan, for a spot in the Indian team. He said, “We of course can’t fight against each other. Whatever comes on the social media, is only personal opinion. But there isn’t any rivalry between the players. If we think like that, there is bound to be a sense of awkwardness.”
