No Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill for 1st BGT Test

Fans will see new faces batting at number one and three during the opening BGT Test against Australia in Perth. Both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill (almost officially) have been ruled out of the first Test. The Hitman was blessed with a baby by on Friday, marking the birth of his second child. As per reports, he wants to spend time with his family. On the other side, Shubman Gill has fractured his thumb while fielding in the match simulation between India and India A. With this, India should look at bringing Sai Sudharsan into the mix.

Mohammed Shami has been hiding his age?

Indian cricket star Mohammed Shami faces age fraud accusations. A leaked driver’s license suggests he’s 42, not 34. That means Shami was born in 1982 and not 1990. Shami has overcome past controversies but this social media storm has went viral. Although there is no confirmation that the post in question was real, the incident reiterates that age-fraud is not a new issue in cricket. As for Shami, he is likely to be available from the second BGT Test onwards. He claimed a superb 7-wicket haul in the match against MP in the Ranji Trophy.

KL Rahul to DC for Rs 18 crore?

Ravichandran Ashwin’s mock IPL 2025 auction saw KL Rahul igniting an absolute bidding war. With a base price of Rs 2 crore, Rahul was sold to Delhi Capitals (DC) for a whopping Rs 18 crore, outbidding Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Rahul’s former team and a place where he is likely to go in reality, dropped out early. Ashwin’s mock auction hints at Rahul’s high demand. Despite criticism, Rahul has shown his T20 potential, and his new mindset to play with “freedom” may boost his performance. Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer would be the three most sought after players at IPL 2025 Auction.

Ruturaj Gaikwad hits sixes vs Ashwin

Ruturaj Gaikwad impressed in India’s intra-squad friendly in Perth, ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Despite unlikely selection for the Test series, Gaikwad showcased his skills, slamming 4 huge sixes off off-spinners Ravi Ashwin, Washington Sundar, and Harshit Rana. Gaikwad has consistently performed in domestic cricket, eyeing a Test debut. However, he’s third in line behind KL Rahul and Abhimanyu Easwaran to open with Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, no that Shubman Gill has also been injured, who knows BCCI calls up Gaikwad to the main squad.

IPL 2025 Auction list pruned to 116?

Only 204 spots remain in the IPL 2025 mega auction, leaving 370 players disappointed. The BCCI has instructed franchises to shortlist desired players for the acceleration process. After top players are auctioned, franchises select from the remaining pool. The acceleration process starts with the 117th player, Ricky Bhui. Of 574 players, 88 will find teams, while 458 won’t. 39 players from seven countries, including eight foreigners, have been requested directly by franchises. The auction will start with the bidding on marquee players, which includes two sets of 6. This will be followed by capped players. The order will be batters, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spinners. Then a few select uncapped players will go under the hammer after that, and then the IPL 2025 mega auction will move to the accelerated process.

Champions Trophy in India?

The BCCI’s protest against the ICC Champions Trophy tour’s planned visit to disputed POK regions appears to have been successful. The PCB has revised the itinerary, excluding these areas. The trophy will now visit seven cities in Pakistan, including a stopover in India from January 15 to January 24. This development comes amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan over the tournament’s venue. While the ICC has confirmed the trophy tour, the fact that the actual tournament’s status is up in the air doesn’t hide away.
