Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have successfully avenged their IPL 2024 loss against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shardul Thakur’s incredible performance, coupled with Nicholas Pooran’s insane striking, denied SRH their second IPL 2025 win as LSG have opened their account. Tonight, it will be another high-octane encounter when the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Chepauk. However, there’s an injury alert for CSK, who might not see their retained pacer in action against the likes of Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar. Elsewhere, there were several reports pertaining to Indian cricket and the BCCI on Thursday (March 27). It looks like the BCCI is looking to include Shreyas Iyer in the central contract finally. Meanwhile, don’t be surprised if Rohit Sharma drops himself from India’s next international assignment again!

Rohit Sharma to drop himself?
Rohit Sharma may opt out of India’s upcoming Test series against England in June, contrary to previous reports. The Indian captain has struggled with form, scoring only 31 runs in 3 Tests against Australia. He had previously dropped himself from the playing XI in the Sydney Test. Virat Kohli is expected to be part of the team despite his own lackluster performance. Previously, reports claimed that a decent IPL 2025 would ease the BCCI to include Rohit in Test plans. Injury for CSK before RCB clash
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Matheesha Pathirana will miss the upcoming match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) due to an injury. This is the second match he will miss, after sitting out the IPL 2025 opener against the Mumbai Indians. CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed that Pathirana is still recovering, but the exact nature of the injury is unknown. Despite his absence, CSK has a strong pace attack, with bowlers like Khaleel Ahmed and Sam Curran stepping up in his place. Noor Ahmad, Ashwin and Jadeja will be key at Chepauk. Read more here.

Shreyas Iyer’s wish to be granted by BCCI!
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were surprisingly left out of the BCCI’s central contract in February 2024. However, after their impressive performances, they might be included in the upcoming cycle. Iyer, who had a stellar 2025 Champions Trophy campaign, is reportedly set to regain his contract in a top category. Kishan’s inclusion is still being discussed. The BCCI top brass will meet on March 29 or 30 to finalize the central contracts. Read more here.
