The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finally broken their hoodoo. After a wait of 17 long years, RCB have finally won an IPL game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Skipper Rajat Patidar led from the front, and his bowlers did the job fantastically as RCB recorded a 50-run win over CSK. MS Dhoni, meanwhile, attracted a lot of eyeballs in the game, courtesy of his batting position. He batted as low as number nine, yet the Chepauk crowd was behind their CSK icon. Elsewhere, the BCCI made a slight tweak in the IPL 2025 schedule for KKR. Also, we got an update on the injury to Jasprit Bumrah, who is yet to recover and join the Mumbai Indians (MI). On that note, let us look at the top cricketing stories from March 28, Friday.

IPL 2025 schedule changed for KKR?
The IPL 2025 schedule has been revised for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match. Originally set for April 6, the game will now take place on April 8 at 3:30 PM at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. This change is due to security concerns raised by the Kolkata Police, who will be deployed across the city for Ram Navami celebrations on April 6. As a result, April 6 will feature only one game, while April 8 will have a double-header, with KKR vs LSG in the afternoon and Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings in the evening. Read more here.

MS Dhoni a liability for CSK?
The MS Dhoni conundrum! It’s getting harder to ignore the fact that Dhoni’s batting position is causing more harm than good for CSK. In their recent match against RCB, Dhoni bizarrely batted at number nine, leaving fans and experts scratching their heads. With the team in dire straits at 80/6, you’d think Dhoni’s experience and chasing prowess would be just what they needed. Instead, he played a cameo that was too little, too late. Is Dhoni becoming a liability for CSK? The debate is currently going viral on social media, too! Read more here.

Jasprit Bumrah injury update for MI
Jasprit Bumrah’s injury update isn’t looking too promising. He’s been out for nearly four months with a back injury, and the Mumbai Indians (MI) still don’t have a confirmed date for his return. The BCCI hasn’t provided a timeline for his return, which could mean he might be out for an extended period. MI head coach Mahela Jayawardena said Bumrah is going through his program, and everything seems okay, but there’s no rush to get him back on the field. Read more here.

Ravindra Jadeja creates IPL history
Ravindra Jadeja has made history by becoming the first player in IPL history to achieve 3000 runs and 100 wickets. He reached this milestone in his 242nd match, scoring 25 runs against RCB. Jadeja already had 160 wickets to his name. He’s also one of the few players with 100 catches in the IPL. Andre Russell and Axar Patel are potential contenders to break Jadeja’s record, but for now, Jadeja stands alone in this elite club. Read more here.

Bonus for Axar Patel?
The BCCI is set to announce its central contracts, with Axar Patel expected to be promoted from Grade C to Grade B. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja will reportedly be retained in the top Grade A+ category, despite retiring from T20Is. The trio’s recent ICC Champions Trophy win is likely a factor in this decision. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer will be back among the mix. The contracts, usually announced before the IPL, have been delayed and will be finalized on March 30. Read more here.

New job at BCCI
The BCCI is seeking a new spin coach for the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The coach will replace Sairaj Bahutule, who joined the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2025. The ideal candidate should be a former India cricketer or have played 75+ first-class matches, with 3+ years of coaching experience and a BCCI COE Level 3 or Level 2 Performance Coach degree. The coach will work with VVS Laxman and assist in creating high-performance training plans for India’s spin bowlers. Read more here.
