India reign supreme over Afghans!

The India Cricket Team proved to be too powerful over Afghanistan. In India’s first Super 8 match of the ICC T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma and Co went on to clinch a 47 run win over the Afghans. Albeit Rohit, Virat and Rishabh failing to score big runs, Suryakumar Yadav was detrimental to prove his point with a splendid fifty. As for India’s bowling, Jaspit Bumrah proved too hot for the Afghans to handle as he scalped 3 wickets by giving away just 7 runs in his four over spell.

Comeback Loading!

India’s ace pacer Mohammed Shami is bracing for his comeback into the India Cricket Team setup very soon. Shami has been out of action since the ODI World Cup and his missed the IND vs ENG Test series and IPL 2024. He underwent the knife on his Achilles tendon. But now the speedster has begun toiling hard in the gym as he eyes his comeback. It is expected that he is likely to be in the team for the IND vs BAN series in September.

Gautam Gambhir or WV Raman?

The search for the next India Cricket Team head coach continues. And as per reports, the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) are contemplating between two choices – Gautam Gambhir or WV Raman. Few days earlier, it was understood that Gambhir was slated to be the replacement for Rahul Dravid. But now, after WV Raman’s inclusion, the CAC is in a major fix. Further reports also claim that there are also talks and discussion about having dual coaches for the Men in Blue.

New Schedule, New Games!

The BCCI has announced India’s home schedule for the 2024-25 season. India’s home schedule is slated to start from September. After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, India has 2 away tours at Zimbabwe followed by Sri Lanka. The home season starts with Bangladesh visiting India for 2 Tests and 3 T20I matches in Sep-Oct. New Zealand will tour India for a 3 Match Test series starting in mid October. And finally, in 2025 comes the England tour in January which will see 5 T20I matches and then 3 ODI games.

VVS Laxman to hold fort?

There is a growing belief that Gautam Gambhir is expected to be the next India coach. But the appointment won’t be imminent. In fact, there is a high chance that the current NCA head, VVS Laxman would be used as stop gap for the Zimbabwe tour. India is likely to send a B squad to Zimbabwe which will be under the reign of VVS Laxman. Reports claim, the Gautam Gambhir is expected to take charge from the Sri Lanka tour.

England drop points, Spain pip past Italy!

In the first game of the day, Slovenia and Serbia played out a 1-1 draw. But most important, one of the favorites of the tournament, England dropped points. Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions were held to a 1-1 draw by Denmark. Harry Kane’s opener was equalized by a screamer from Morten Hjulmand. In the last game of the day, Spain pipped past a rather physical yet toothless Italy. The deadlock was broken in the second half with an own goal from Riccardo Calafiori.
