Bangladesh suffer ICC loophole
The Bangladesh Cricket Team suffered owing to a huge loophole in ICC’s laws. The incident took place in the 17th over of the second innings. Mahmadullah was hit on the pads and the ball went on to reach the fence. The umpire signalled it a lbw. Bangladesh went on to review the decision and the third umpire reversed it. But 4 runs weren’t added since the ball was considered dead. In the end, Bangladesh lost the game by 4-runs to South Africa.
Proteas First Team to Qualify for Super 8
The South Africa Cricket Team became the first team to qualify for the Super 8 in the ICC T20 World Cup. The Proteas registered three wins on a trot and thus became the first team to officially seal their spot in the next stage. Aiden Markram and Co won their opening game against Sri Lanka and then went on to register wins against Netherlands and Bangladesh.
Imad Wasim accused of ‘Ball Wasting’
The Pakistan Cricket Team is never shy of any controversies. Imad Wasim has been accused of ball wasting in the India vs Pakistan clash. The Men in Green went on to lose to arch rivals by 6 runs. While the Pakistani batters played 59 dot balls in the game, Wasim has been in the centre of controversy. PCB want ICC Champions Trophy in February 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants the ICC Champions Trophy to commence on 19th February and run till 9th March 2025. Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore have been chosen as the venues. However, PCB wants the high profile India vs Pakistan clash to take place in Lahore. While the schedule is yet to be officially approved, there remains a huge doubt over India’s participation. India’s travel to Pakistan remains on the approval by the Central Government. Should the Men in Blue not travel, then a hybrid model will be opted.
