Indian wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh suffered a blow to the face during the 1st T20I against South Africa. The injury, sustained while fielding, caused concern as Ghosh displayed concussion symptoms like dizziness and neck pain. Following the new concussion substitute rule, she was replaced by Sajeevan Sajana for the remainder of the match. Her batting exploits were definitely missed as the Indian team were completely outclassed by the Proteas.

Spain and Germany were locked in an enticing 1-1 battle but an injury time goal at the end of extra time from Mikel Moreno saw La Roja knocking out hosts Germany from Quarters of the tournament. In the second match of the day, France outclassed Portugal in the penalty shootout after the game remained goalless. The Dream for Cristiano Ronaldo ended after Joao Felix missed his penalty shootout.
