Suryakumar Yadav takes India home

Taking the reigns from Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav has shown that he won’t be changing his style of play despite the captaincy burden. The flamboyant dasher was probably the best player for India against Sri Lanka, winning the Player of the Match award for his breathtaking 58 off 22. His captaincy was on point as well, with trying Riyan Parag at the fag end as well.

Shubman Gill over Jasprit Bumrah?

In what came as surprising reports, it looks like Team India might replace Jasprit Bumrah by Shubman Gill as Test vice-captain. Until this year, Gill never captained a senior side, but he was named the skipper of his IPL team (GT) and later led Team India in the five-match series against Zimbabwe. Gill is currently the vice-captain of both T20I and ODI teams as well.

Illegal bowling by Kamindu Mendis?

Kamindu Mendis, stunned fans by bowling spin with both arms in the same over against India. When Suryakumar Yadav came to bat, he bowled left-arm spin and when Pant batted, Mendis switched to right-arm orthodox spin. Many viewers were taken aback by this feat. The laws say that is it legal only if the bowler previously announce his change of arm with the umpires, who then inform the batter at crease.

It looks like Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the most runs in Test history is in trouble. Joe Root has breached the 12000-run mark and is just around 4000 runs away from the great man’s record. At 33 years old, it looks like Root might get close to Tendulkar.

Ravi Bishnoi is a tough nut!

Ravi Bishnoi showcased his toughness in the India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I. Despite being struck in the face while attempting a caught and bowled, the 23-year-old leg spinner continued to bowl with a bandaged cheek and swollen eye. With five balls left in his spell, he could have easily walked off, but instead, he persevered and made a crucial impact. Bishnoi got Sri Lanka’s captain, Charith Asalanka, caught for a 2-ball duck, tipping the game in India’s favor.
