DRS, July 24: PCB-BCCI stalemate for Champions Trophy, Dravid to join RR & Nehra no longer GT head coach?

Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

The IPL 2025 has already kicked off, it seems. Two IPL franchises might announce a new head coach while one successful commander-in-chief has decided to call it quits. The Champions Trophy 2025 is also in the news. The topic remains the same old one: whether India will travel to Pakistan. International cricket also joined the head coach bandwagon, learning from the franchise frenzy as Gautam Gambhir started his tenure with India while Pakistan’s Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie received warnings.

Rahul Dravid’s RR return

A month after ending his tenure as India’s head coach, Rahul Dravid may have booked himself another gig. The man who guided India to their first ICC title in 11 years could join his old franchise, the Rajasthan Royals, for the upcoming IPL 2025 season as their head coach. The deal is basically complete, and we could hear an announcement soon.

Yuvraj in, Nehra out as GT head coach

Hours after hearing that Dravid might join the Rajasthan Royals, we heard that Ashish Nehra would leave the Gujarat Titans. Not much is known about the reason behind his departure, but a potential replacement for head coach has already been named in Yuvraj Singh. Nehra isn’t the only one leaving, as Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki is set to leave as well.

ICC to convince India to travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy

With each passing day, we’re hearing new iterations regarding the Champions Trophy 2025’s future. Yesterday, we heard that the PCB has done everything from their side, getting the budget and schedule passed at the ICC annual meeting in Sri Lanka. Now, it’s up to the ICC to convince the BCCI to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. Will that happen? Well, that’s for another day to discuss.

Gambhir’s 1st practice as India head coach

Gautam Gambhir has kicked off his tenure as India’s head coach. The commander-in-chief oversaw his first practice session three days before the team plays the 1st T20I in Pallekele. The former Indian cricketer was seen having some chats with players like Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube in his first training session.

Kirsten & Gillespie warned by former Pakistan head coach

Dav Whatmore has warned Pakistan’s new head coaches, Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie, about what stands ahead of them. The former head coach called himself lucky to have survived for two years and not gotten sacked and issued a warning that there would be some ‘casualties’ when the team didn’t perform well.

Suryakumar Yadav helps childhood coach

Suryakumar Yadav may have become India’s new T20I captain, but he hasn’t forgotten his roots. The 360-degree batter hasn’t forgotten his childhood coach, Ashok Aswalkar, and comes to his aid when he needs it the most. After his coach got sacked, he might open up a new cricket academy to aid his guru and thank him for his guidance.
