Gautam Gambhir to bring Nayar & Morkel?
It appears that Gautam Gambhir’s preferred choices for India’s coaching staff are starting to be approved by the BCCI, with Abhishek Nayar set to join as an assistant coach for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. Nayar, who previously worked with Gambhir at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL, is expected to be part of the coaching team that retains fielding coach T Dilip. Ryan ten Doeschate is also expected to join. Additionally, there are reports that former South African pacer Morne Morkel could be appointed as the bowling coach.

IPL prep heats up! Discussions on player retention and salary caps for the 2025 mega auction are underway. BCCI will meet franchise owners by July end (likely 30th/31st) at Wankhede Stadium (a change from usual venues). Franchises are pushing for a 20% hike in the player purse, aiming for Rs 120 crore instead of Rs 100 crore currently.

A massive Rs 5.72 crore was spent on Chopra’s overall training, while Rs 39.92 lakh towards Deepika Kumari’s training and Rs 65.90 lakh on Amit Panghal. Meanwhile, Rs 1.56 crore has been spent on Bopanna’s overall expenses for Paris Olympics.

Gautam Gambhir will conduct his first media conference as India’s head coach before the team departs for a white-ball tour to Sri Lanka. Despite being introduced as the new head coach a few weeks ago, the two-time World Cup champion has yet to meet with the team or face the media. Gambhir will give his maiden news conference as head coach on July 22 with BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar. According to sources, the Men in Blue will also leave for Sri Lanka on the same day.
