Will Sanju Samson be ready to play the first IPL 2025 match for the Rajasthan Royals? Well, Samson is expected to recover in time for IPL 2025 despite undergoing finger surgery on his right index finger. The RR captain suffered the injury earlier this month and had surgery on February 11. According to reports, Samson will take around a month to recover, which gives him enough time to be fit for the IPL, starting on March 21. New Delhi Capitals team?
Joining the bandwagon, the Delhi Capitals’ (DC) ownership group, GMR, has fully acquired the Southern Brave team in The Hundred tournament. This move was anticipated, given GMR’s existing majority stake in Hampshire County Cricket Club, which owned 51% of the Southern Brave. The acquisition was valued at £48 million (Rs 518 crore), marking GMR as the second IPL franchise owner to take full ownership of a Hundred team after SRH. The Gujarat Titans (GT) are getting new owners! The Torrent Group is buying a 67% stake in the team from CVC Capital Partners, who paid Rs 5625 crore for the franchise in 2021. The Torrent Group had previously bid on the team but lost out. Now, they’re taking over and promising to nurture the team and create a lasting legacy. No ICC Champions Trophy warmups for India
India won’t play any warm-up matches before the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The team, led by Rohit Sharma, will head to Dubai on February 15, leaving no time for a practice game. India’s first match is against Bangladesh on February 20. Interestingly, Bangladesh will play a warm-up match against Pakistan Shaheens on February 17. Australia, England, and Pakistan are also skipping warm-up matches. This might put India at a slight disadvantage, but they’ve been in good form lately.
